The Winter Scene

This is my latest "medium" project, still in process. (need to fix horse's hoof, add snow to the wall, and quilt the whole thing). I am somewhat proud as I designed all the elements myself (except the horse) from my own photographs. I am awaiting a horse pattern from two different people.
I truly enjoy the thread painting aspects of these winter scenes. Although it's hard to see here, the snowy "road" glistens as it is made from sparkly organza (near) and mesh (far).
My next one will be just of the horse going through a wooded area.

Updates

So as you can see, this blog was begun and then lay dormant for years. I even registered a different blog with the same name. So I am recording the progress of the Enchantments project on that blog; this one will be for other new developments in techniques and projects.

Day One - Into the Unkown

February 19, 2007 (the day after my birthday)

Today I finally bit the bullet and started the latest learning adventure of my new business ... blogging. Seems like a fitting way to weave my love of journaling into this venture.
Looking out the window where the recent nor'easter snowfall graces the bases of the forest, I can see the outline of the pond where Jeni and Ryan used to catch frogs. In a little over a month, Jenica will be graduating with her Masters in Environmental Education from Western Washington University ; in May, Ryan gets his Bachelor's degree from Earlham College.
My current custom piece is coming alive in a wonderful fashion. The autumn scene is a vibrant contrast to the different values of white that the snow reveals and the browns and greys that define the tree trunks.
